ST. LAWRENCE & HOLY FAMILY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WELCOMES YOU
THE WORLD NEEDS MORE KNIGHTS: OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE
Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Haven, Connecticut. His intent was to bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. This approach was directed largely toward widows.
With 1.9 million members around the world the Knights of Columbus have a strong commitment to a “Code of Ethics and Conduct” involving the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism that serves as a basis for their service-based work.
Knights come from every stage of life, from countless corners of the world and request you to join us as we continue daily to celebrate real role models in a world that needs men who lead, serve, protect, and defend.
Following is a short prayer that I have often thought embodies a Knight of Columbus:
“I will stand by you, I will help you through, when you have done all you can, and you can’t cope. I will dry your eyes, I will fight your fight, I will hold you tight and I won’t let go”.
A council at both Holy Family and Saint Lawrence. The Knights of Columbus are a fraternal organization of men who meet monthly for business and social get-togethers. They also sponsor pancake breakfasts, turkey bingo, and various civic projects. If interested in joining us please contact:
The Friars of St. Francis is a men's group, the organization was first started as a social group, by the Polish immigrants, that weren't accepted anywhere else. Now it's open to any man wishing to belong. They help out at the church, help out those in need, and have a death benefit for the members.
This is our cluster-wide parish group. They meet every 1st Sunday of the month at 6:00 PM at St. Lawrence. All women are welcome to join for fellowship and prayer.
